THIS JOURNEY IS NOW COMPLETE! This was a challenge I undertook from Feb 2011 to Feb 2012. Thanks to everyone that kept me going! Feel free to read through and comment, I am now also periodically adding reviews here as I sample other beers that I did not come across during the challenge.

Grand Ridge Brewery Gippsland Gold Pale Ale
Ok So after drinking three beers from this brewery I've come to a conclusion.
They claim to be the 'World's Most Awarded Brewery' (despite the fact I've never heard of them). However the two awards they actually parade on the bottle are from 7 years ago.
Each beer, while different, all has this distinctly over the top bitterness to it that isn't just an aftertaste... it punches you in the face just seconds into the sip and then leaves your tongue feeling like it's been down a cheese grater.
Grand Ridge Breweries is using bitterness to compensate for the fact that it is no longer relevant. They are the Germaine Greer of breweries.
To be specific to this particular drop, it is the best of the three so far. It has a somewhat pleasant pale ale beginning to its flavour that is soon bulldozed by something reminiscent of a Warhead. I still have three more beers from this brewery to go :(
One of them is called 'Moonshine'.
So stay tuned for that.
